Alex Carey, an Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, praised Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, adding that both outstanding players have done incredible things for cricket and would be crucial players in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts on February 9 in Nagpur, will feature India and Australia competing against one another, reigniting the Virat Kohli-Steve Smith rivalry. The Kohli versus Smith rivalry always exists when India and Australia play each other, regardless of the format.
“We both understand how incredible they have been in the sport of cricket and for Australia. Steve Smith recently reached his 30th Test century. The last time he batted, whether in India or elsewhere, indicates how talented the man is. As a result, we will be aware that there will be massive wickets in the locker rooms. I’m assuming he’ll leave during this trip, but we’ll realize what a huge wicket it is, and for the following player to go in and do their business,” Sportskeeda was told by Alex Carey.
In the top 10 Border-Gavaskar Trophy run scorers, Sachin Tendulkar (3264 runs) and Ricky Ponting (3264 runs) are legends as well as Kohli and Smith (2555 runs). Smith was rated eighth with 1742 runs in 14 games at an astounding average of 72.58, eight hundred, five fifties, a best of 192.
“And we want to eliminate Virat as that important target, but he isn’t the only one. Because they are also two players about whom you don’t need to say much. The fact that he is the crucial wicket doesn’t need to be discussed at a team meeting. Each team will be aware of that. They are the mainstays of both teams,” Added Carey.
While Kohli and Smith’s prowess will be fascinating to watch, both are important batsmen, so their success might affect their respective teams.
